Elderable

Elderlies may have trouble using and remembering, which switch is for which applications accurately. Thus, we have decided to come up with a sticker pack that has simplified symbol so that they can turn on their power switches conveniently.

Goal:
Provide/ create a product that will help the elderly use technology. E.g. identifying right switches.

Problem Statement:
How might we help elderly people figure out how to use technology so that it will bring them much convenience?

AR Meet

Chosen Topic: Republic Polytechnic’s Help-IT
Design a (Phygital Solution) to improve the experience that students face while visiting Help-IT to resolve their IT issues.

Problem Statement:
How might we ease the process of registering and solving tech issues the IT-HelpDesk for students.

Rationale:
I chose this solution because it provides an easier way for students to have access to the IT-HelpDesk even when they are not in school. The RP technicians also are not necessarily required to be in school/IT-HelpDesk waiting while standing. This solution also introduces new technology such as Augmented Reality to further ease the communication between the technician and the student. With visual and verbal aid, it may be easier for the student to fix their laptop issues on their own.

a. Identify TWO (2) Stakeholders that are relevant to your chosen topic

  • Students
  • RP technicians

b. Explain how they impact the development of your User Experience Design process

  • The RP technicians will be using the video consultations and AR most to help the students with their IT issues, therefore, their feedback/opinions on their experience with the solution can highly impact the UXD process. They may also require training to adapt.
  • The students can impact the development as the solution should fit their requirements and solve their problems, therefore, the problems should be identified correctly in the UXD process.

Risk: There may be technical issues due to internet connection.

Contingency: Allow students to still be able to visit the IT-HelpDesk.

Risk: Students hands/camera can shake and disrupt and change the drawing in the AR.

Contingency: Have a pop-up that has the following text, “Camera is shaking/not visible.” With the option to turn off AR. Pop-up appears for both users.

Risk: Students may not be aware of the use of online meetings for consultations as well as the AR function.

Contingency: Publish a short video advertising the use of the AR function on the big display screen outside of W1.
