For my FYP, I, alongside my team created a website under Health Promotion Board's Healthy365 app for youths to incorporate healthy habits into their busy lives. Our design solution, FuelYOUths, includes gamified features, cash and school benefit rewards to motivate them to prioritize their health and think of health as a strategic investment for their future. We were able to work alongside HPB to get their feedback for our project.
My personal contributions:
1. I divided the work to make sure that we were able to complete the work on time and do it efficiently. I made Danial and Ayu do the marketing strategy part, research and moodboard as well as the surveys, while Faseha, Savitha and I work on the design solution. We would discuss often to keep each other in the loop. Together, we would work on the final prototype.
2. I arranged meetings with lecturers. Through this we were able to get multiple feedbacks and improved our design and research and improve them. I also got feedbacks from many of our participant users and this improved our design drastically, such as adding the friend features to motivate students further. I also managed our schedule and made sure we each contribute about the same amount of time on our work and they get breaks to do other school work.
3. I edited all the videos after I had gotten the resources from our team work or recordings from my friends. I got many feedback from them on how to improve and used examples from old modules on how to create videos such as the pitch video.
My personal takeaways:
1. Through this project, I have learned how to manage a project, improve my time management and how to communicate with others, mainly because I am the team leader and am required to keep track of everything. I think this has made me a better leader and team mate, I realized how many difficult decisions and responsibilities the leaders have and I also have a lot more respect for them.
2. At first, I found it difficult to explain my ideas clearly, especially during brainstorming sessions as my team can be quite quiet at times. But over time, I learned how to organize my thoughts, use visuals effectively like drawing out my ideas, and speak with more confidence. This has helped me not just in this project, but also in group work, presentations such as mid-point presentations, and future interviews and presentations.
3. During user testing, not all feedback were positive. Some users were confused by the interface or didn’t find certain features useful. Initially, this discouraged me. But I learned to treat feedback as a tool for improvement, not a personal attack. It helped me improve my design.
